Volunteering is a great way to show your children that you take an interest in their education. Parent volunteers offer a huge resource and support base for our school community while showing their children the importance of participating in the larger community. Even if you haven't been involved in the past, start now!  Ask your child’s teacher or our school's liason, Mrs. Sandoval, how you can help.

Volunteering not only benefits your children; you also benefit by making the school a more positive place. Through your modeling, relationship building and support, you will be helping in ways that will reap benefits for everyone.

Parent Portal

Parent Portal is an exciting tool for parents to use. It allows parents to view their student's attendance, grades, test scores, and classroom assignments. No longer do you have to wait for a report card to arrive to see how your student is doing, just log in and get a glimpse of their progress in class.

All you need to log in is access to the internet and a valid email address to create your account. Come into our office and one of our staff members can help you set up your account.

Absences and Tardies

Parents must call (760-631-4500 ext. 6485) or send a signed note to the Attendance office within 72 hours when a student has been absent. Absences not cleared by 72 hours cannot be cleared at a later date. Valid reasons for excused absences or tadies are the following: personal illness/injury, medical or dental appointments, a death in the family, religious holidays and independent study. For more information please refer to VUSD Board Policy 5005.

Pick up and Drop off

When picking up and dropping off your students, we ask you do this via RMMS parking lot. We have received many calls regarding people parking in our neighbor's driveways, and also blocking streets around RMMS. For your students' safety, we ask you to pick them up in our parking lot.

Welcome Volunteers

We encourage parents, guardians and other members of the community to share their time, knowledge and abilities with students. Volunteer assistance in schools enriches the educational program, enhances supervision of students and contributes to school safety while strengthening the schools' relationships with the community. Additionally community members are encouraged to serve as mentors providing support and motivation to students.

Board Policy 1240- Volunteer Assistance and the accompanying Administrative Regulation  provide the Board's expectations for volunteers in VUSD. This Volunteer Handbook defines the procedures to protect the safety of students and adults as well as conform with laws related to tuberculosis testing and criminal record checks as required by law. Board Policy 1250 Visitors/ Outsiders  and the accompanying Administrative Regulation also provides information regarding these types of interactions on school campuses.

The forms below are referenced in the Volunteer Handbook and are to be utilized by site staff to process volunteers, guests and visitors.
